NEW ZEALAND BUTTER.
LONDON MARKET. STRENGTH OF FORWARD BUYING. AUCKLAND, Saturday. Advices from London state that th® butter market is active, with choicest salted New Zealand selling at 118 a per cwt., with one quotation at 119 s. This is the highest London price since 1931, and is equal to 147 s in New; Zealand currency. Buyers are willing to pay 13d per lb., f.0.b., equivalent to 110 s per cwt., London, for butter which will not reach England until Christmas. However, it is reported that factories prefer to consign and little business is passing. The strength of the forward market is surprising, and it is stated that it can hardly be accounted for by ordinary circumstances. Cheese also is firm, with prices for while and coloured ranging between 58s and GOs. The top price, which is the highest since December, 1932, is equal to 74s in New Zealand currency.
