CARNIVAL DANCE.

FUNCTION AT HUNTLY. The South Auckland Rugby League held a carnival dance and card evening in the IJuntly Town llall on Thursday evening when there was a large attendance including visitors from Hamilton, Tc Rapa, llorotiu, Ngaruawahia, T'aupiri, Pukeiniro, Glen Afton and Rotowaro. The hall had been appropriately decorated with fringed festoons of streamers in the League’s colours, red white and blue, while Nikau palms and paper flowers were arranged at intervals along llie front of the stage. Two dance bands supplied continuous music. The M.’sG. were Mr K. Menzies (Ngaruawahia), and Mr I. Kosoof. During the evening, the president, Mr R. T. Hill, of Taupirl, expressed thanks for the attendance and patronage extended during the entire season; also the ladies and 'the committee. He then presented the various shields, cups and trophies won during the season.

The following were prizes for the novelty dances during the evening: Spot dance, Misses C. and K. Berry; monte carlo waltz, Mrs D. G. Mason and Mr F. Brook. Euchre prizes were awarded to: Ladies, Mrs Powell (Ngaruawahia), 1; Mrs Cawdron (Ngaruawahia), 2; men, Mr Cairns 1, Mr Swarbrick 2. A competition was won by Mr W. Tarplett and Miss B. Cairn.
