BUTTER IN ENGLAND
THE MARKET FIRM. >■ A QUIETER DEMAND. EXTRA MONEY 'FOR PRODUCERS. AUCKLAND, Thursday. Advices from London state that New Zealand finest butter is selling unchanged at 114 s to 115 s per owl. The market is Arm hut there is a quieter demand. The cheese market is firm, but prices are Cd per c-wt. lower at 57s 6d to 58s per cwt. An approximate estimate shows that the higher London prices have meant an extra £125,000 to producers in the Auckland province so far this season. In other words, suppliers In the aggregate are receiving £25,000 to £30,000 a week more than last season. CANTERBURY COMPANY. THE PROSPECTS BRIGHT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. There was a good attendance of suppliers and shareholders of the Canterbury Central Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, at the annual meeting. At the conclusion of the meeting Mr T. C. Brasil, secretary of the Dairy Produce Board, addressed the gathering. The chairman, Mr J. Parkinson, said:—“For the first time for many years a reduced output lias to be recorded in our main products, due to climatic conditions. The recent sharp rise in prices has been the means of stimulating 'the action of forward buyers, and f.o.b. isales' have been made at as high as Is 9id net for shipment during October. It would appear that with the present low stocks of butter and the brighter outlook for at least several months, producers can look forward to a higher average butterfat payment than has prevailed for several years.’’
