CHASED BY MEN. INCIDENT LAST EVENING. SENSATION AT NGARUAWAHIA, (Special to Times.) NGARUAWAHIA, Friday.

Returning home after visiting some friends late last evening two well-known lady residents of Ngaruawahla had an alarming oxperlence.

They had walked in the middle of the road until the business section of the towm was reached and then they crossed over on to tho footpath. They thought lliat they were being followed and received a severe shook when a mail ran up to them and Hashed a powerful electric torch in their faces. The man then whistled a companion, who was some distance away, and they both followed a few yards behind tho ladies, Hashing the torch on to them every now and again. One of the men was dressed in a light suit and the oilier was wearing a dark overcoat and light, coloured trousers. When nearing a friend’s residence thoitwo ladies began Io run and the men immediately gave chase. A male resident of Ngaruawahia who was homing along the opposite way on the other side of Ihe street, noticed the ladies running, and when he crossed the road to see what was wrong the pursuers turned tail and Hed.

One of the ladies had a large sum of money in her handbag.
