LOCAL OBSERVATIONS
Miss R. Budd, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster, supplies the following local observations on the weather:
Barometer.
Thursday .... 30.20 Friday 30 - 2 U Thermometer.
Mas. Min. Wednesday 62 38 Thursday 64 Mean Temperature, 52 deg. The barometer reads du.-u. and has very little movement. Indications are for partly fair and partly overcast weather to-day, and to-morrow; with higher temperatures; winds from an easterly direction; later veering to northerly; unsettled conditions following.
The Rainfall.
Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, .OOin. Rainfall for previous 2a hours, ,041 n. Total for September to date, .251 n. Average rainfall for September, 3.88 in. Rainfall for year to date, 37.59 in. ■Yearly average, 46.32 in.
SOUTH AUCKLAND AREA. (By Govt. Meteorologist.)
The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist, covering the WaikatoThames Valley Is as follows: Forecast: Moderate but freshening easterly winds, backing to north-easteily. Weather fair and mild, but cloud increasing, and later rain developing. Seas moderate but rising. General Inference: An anticyclone still covers New Zealand, but is moving slowly eastwards, and a depression is advancing across the Tasman Sea.
