BYDNEY* SALES. MARKET CLOSES FIRM. United Tress Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright SYDNEY, Sept. 5. At the Sydney wool sales to-day 11,973 bales were offered and 11,041 were sold. Also 3590 bales were sold privately. The market, closed firm at the rates ruling earlier this week. There was very keen competition from Japan and the Continent, with Yorkshire operating sparingly. Greasy Merino sold lo 20Jd.
ON FIRM FOUNDATION. PRICES WILL BE MAINTAINED. LONDON, Sept. 5. The Financial News expresses the opinion that the prices operating at the Australian wool sales will be at least maintained, since production In the 1935-36 season is not likely lo exceed that of the previous year and may be even lower. There may be doubt whether speculation will confuse the position again but there is nothing to Indicate that the present price movement is built on anything but firm foundations.
