CAMBRIDGE SUB-UNION. MANAGEMENT MEETING. PROTEST DISMISSED. (Special toTlmes.) CAMBRIDGE, Tuesday. The regular meeting of the Cambridge Rugby sub-Union Management Committee was held in the Power Board buildings last evening, when the president, Mr W. Drake, presided over a fair attendance. The Waipa sub-Union suggested that Mr c. Wallace (Cambridge), rereree. the Blnnie Cup match (United v. Rovers). D. Holloway (Pukerimu) was placed on the Insurance list for a further week, making a total of four weeks. Fixtures. Fixtures Tor Saturday.—Fleming Shield final: Northern v. Hautapu, Square, 1.15. The matter of finalising the Binnle Cup date was left In the hands of the secretary to arrange with Waipa. Mr N. Garland was given permission to take a junior team to Pio Plo next Saturday with Mr Boulton as co-manager. Pretest Dismissed, The protest entered the previous week by the Leamington Club against the United junior team Tor allegedly wrongfully playing two members in the final a fortnight ago against their junior team was again beTore the meeting. The secretary (Mr ’McKenzie) stated that he had been In touch with Morrinsville and had been advised that the Hubbard playing there was Frank Hubbard, a half-caste Maori, and not Fred Hubbard, registered with United. Morrlnsvtllo also advised that Frank Hubbard had been playing there for several seasons and had not played outside the union’s territory this season. Mistaken Identity. The chairman said it was obviously a case or mistaken identity on the part of the Leamington Club. The Leamington delegates said since last meeting they had got in touch with Taupiri and were awaiting Information front there. Mr V. Roulton (United) objected to this and said it was not referred to in the protest, which had declared that a United player, F. Hubbard, had played for Morrinsvllic. ■Mr J. ff. Cafan said Leamington had not included a charge -of playing a Taupiri player, and ho contended such evidence was not permissible at this stage. The chairman said the protest would be dismissed as it had been established that Fred Hubbard had not played for Morrlnsville as alleged.
No action was taken against the player, T. Lorrimcr.
