A SORRY SPECTACLE.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—What a sorry spectacle the so-called League of Nations presents. It seems to be very far from being a league of nations! When a weak nation has a grievance it is forced to abide by the decision of the League, but when one of the great Powers cannot get its way it coolly threatens to leave tho League and -to fight any nation that dares to question it. One cannot but feel that the huge sum that must be spent in the upkeep of the League could be much better applied by the individual nations in their own countries, and that they would thereby run less risk of becoming involved in the world-wide conflagration they are supposed to be seeking to avoid.—l am, etc., MIND OWN BUSINESS.
