TE AROHA.

PRESENTATION. On the eve of bis departure for Auckland on transfer, Mr Caradus, woodwork Instructor at tlie Te Aroha Technical School, was made a presentation at a very pleasing function on Tuesday. Mr T. W. Welch, commercial Instructor, said Mr Caradus had been connected with the Technical School for three and a hall years, and during that period, bad endeared himself to all. On behalf of the pupils, Miss E. Robinson presented Mr Caradus with a camera, and tho recipient returned thanks. Chamber of Commerce. Tho president, Mr J. E. Wild, presided on Tuesday evening at the August meeting or the Te Aroha Chamber of Commerce. By invitation tho instructors and pupils of the Te Aroha Technical School were present. A letter was read from the Paeroa Chamber or Commerce stating it was or the opinion that the suppression or tho white butterfly was a matter for tho Farmers’ Union to take up, hut it would he ready to co-operate with local bodies. The Department of Agriculture wrote stating it could not supply parasites to combat tlie white butterfly pest except to districts where they were not already established The Hon. C. E. Macmillan, Minister or Agriculture, wrote stating he would interview tho Minister of Employment relative to a subsidy being granted on the sum expended for rice milk provided for children of tho unemployed who were under school age, and would early advise tho result.
