ROMANCE BY POST.
BRIDE FOR THE WILDS. For more Ilian six years letters, breathing romance between schoolday chums, had been passing between a missionary, following in the footsteps of Livingstone and Stanley in Africa, and the daughter of a’ Melbourne clergyman. Last week the missionary, Rev. L. J. Bakewcll, arrived in Melbourne in Ihe Maioja, and within the year lie will be married to Miss Chris Ston's, daughter of Rev. \V. T. C. Storrs. Mr Bakewcll proposed by letter, his request leaving iii.s missionary pioneering village of Bugufi, in the Tanganyika wilds, in October, Miss Storrs received it in December and at the end of January Mr Bakewcll received a letter of acceptance, more than three months being required for a letter to reach .Melbourne and a reply to get back to Bugufi. Jn May next Mr Bakewcll will take bis bride to a training school at Katoke, in Central Africa, where she will be the only while woman.
