ELECTORS’ OWN FAULT.
the Editor.) Sir, —From the comment I ’ heard •down the street when the start of the “Pram Derby” was stopped by the Borough Council’s instructions, there is likely to toe a big squeal in the public opinion columns of your valuable paper. I would like to tell the electors that it is their own fault for electing the present council. Hamilton, easily the most beautiful inland town in New Zealand, has a Dominion reputation for sjudginess and mid-Victorianism, gained purely by the non-progressive and dull policy of the council. The electors had the opportunity in May to rectify this polioy, but were too inert to do so. We all know that the -electors for the general election are sick of the present Government, but will they be like the residents of Hamilton and allow the same old fossils to go back into power again? lam afraid so. An organised ticket would soon see the present muddlers back in private life, and others with forethought, imagination and zest representing tho public. I agree v with the many comments that I have heard. The action of the council was childishly absurd, hut it is no good growling. The people should know what to do next time, and should also watch that the same thing does not happen in the November elections. —I am, etc., PROGRESS. Hamilton. August 3, 1935.
