COMING-OF-AGE PARTY.

FOR MISS ELSIE MELVILLE. The Kakepuku Hall was well filled on Saturday evening, when the young people of Pokuru and neighbouiing districts assembled to honour Miss Elsie Melville, elder daughter of Mr and 'Mrs W. J. D. Melville, on the occasion of her coming-of-age. The hall had been beautifully decorated with wattle fronds and the supper room was decorated with camellias. Dancing was enjoyed to music supplied by Dalton’s Orchestra, and an extra was played by Miss W. Fear. Mr Eric Melville was 'M.C. Mrs Melville received her guests wearing a frock of wine crepe Marina, trimmed with gold lame, and Miss Melville’s frock was of white noveity marocain, trimmed with silver lame, and white ermine cape. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss C- Macky and Mr C. Bowden, and a statue log cabin by Miss A. Cox and Mr D. Fraser. A delicious supper was much enjoyed, and Miss Melville cut the beautiful two-tier cake amid applause, and expressions of goodwill. The Rev. S. 'R. Wareing, in an appropriate speech, proposed the health of Miss Melville, congratulating her upon attaining her majority, and expressing the heartiest good wishes of all present. Mr Melville suitably acknowledged the toast. Among the visitors were friends from Auckland, Helensville, Pukekohe, Papakura, Eureka and Hamilton.
