STABLES ABLAZE.
ESCAPE OF HORSES. PALMERSTON N., Friday. A flro broke out in a new rhcing stable in Monrad Street last night, and the building was destroyed, but two young horses which had been on it escaped. The owner of the property, Mr J. T. Taylor, had not completed the building, but in the two boxes were two yearlings, one by Peach Brandy from Hallowvonla, and the other by the same sire from Bonny Stream.
Mr Taylor had bedded down the horses for the night at about 4.30 p.m. However, at about’ 9 o'clock, a neighbour discovered the stable on fire. Mr Taylor’s home is away from the premises. The owner was surprised to And that the two young horses had been let loose from their boxes and were running around the paddock. It has not yet been ascertained who released the animals.
