IN ACTIVE DEMAND.
RISE OF 3/- FOR WEEK. HIGHEST SINCE 1933. AUCKLAND, Saturday. Reports from London indicate that there is an active demand for butter, and-choicest salted New Zealand Is selling Is higher at 93s per cwt'. This represents a rise of 3s to 4s per cwt on the week. ' The quotation of 93s is only Is below the peak price early this year, when the market rose owing to purchases of butter by the United States. Apart from that, the price Is higher than at any other time since October, 1933. The cheese market is firmer, with New Zealand white quoted at 44s 6d and coloured at 44s per cwt. A Comparison. There was a good demand for butter a year ago. Danish was quoted at 96s per cwt; ohoicest salted New Zealand, 78s to 795;- Australian, 73s to 745; unsalted, New Zealand, 84s; Australian, 765. The cheese market was steady. New Zealand, white,-49s 6d; coloured, 46 s 6d; Australian was cleared. ' Tlje New Zealand Producers’ Cooperative Marketing Association, Ltd., has received the following cable, dated July 26 from London:—“The butter market is active and advancing. New Zealand, 91s to 935; Danish, 110 s. Cheese: New Zealand white, 44s to 44s 6d; coloured, 43s 6d to 445.
