The New Zealand women’s hockey team to-day defeated Queensland by 3 goals to 0. Miss McKenzie played centre and began splendidly and scored twice, one goal, however, being disallowed because she had played after the whistle. .Then she collided with a Queensland player and received a hard knock, hut was able to continue. Play was suspended When Miss Drake received'a severe blow under one eye from a rising ball. She was taken to hospital, but returned to watch the match after treatment. In the second spell New Zealand played one short, and Miss McKenzie was transferred to right inner. Queensland attacked t strongly, but could not score. Mrs Reid had a shot just inside the circle, but Queensland cleared. , , ' However, Miss Cotter rushed and Miss McKenzie secured her second goal. New Zealand scored again before the final bell, when Mi?s Saville was successful with a clean shot. Western Australia defeated South Australia by 4 goals to 0.
