WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
' AT FENCOURT. A meeting of the Fencourt Women’s Institute was held on Thursday, when there was a largo attendance. Mesdames Davidson, Goodwin and Quinlan, from Te Poi, visited the Institute and gave -exceedingly interesting demonstrations of the making of pine needle baskets, papier mache and tinsel paper pictures, and a hearty vote of -thanks was accorded them by Mrs Shaw. Mrs J. Campbell won the games competition and afternoon tea was served by Mrs R. Fiesst and the Misses Fiesst, this bringing a' most enjoyable afternoon to a close. AT FRANKTON. A meeting was held at St. James’ Hall, Frankton, on Thursday, by the Jubilee Women’s Institute. There was a good attendance, including several new members. Airs W-. E. Higgins presided. A demonstration of smocking was given by Airs Thornly. The competition for the best novelty was won by M’s Hogarth. Entertainment was provided by M"* W. Vena 11 ai-d Mrs A. Franks. A very pleasant afternoon was brought to a close with afternoon tea. The hostesses were Mesdames Fisher, Harvey, and Franks.
