RUGBY.
WAIKATO UNION AFFAIRS. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. EAST V. WEST TRIAL. There was a full attendance of delegates at the monthly meeting of the Waikato Rugby Union Management Committee last evening when Mr W. Fraser presided. The secretary reported on the attendance of Waikato Union delegates to the large / farewell function held recently at Te Awamulu in honour of Mr J. Wynyard, Waikato’s All Black. Mr Wynyard sent a letter of thanks and appreciation to the union for its congratulations. The application of Pomare Wilson, of Te Hoe, forTeadmission to the Rugby code was directed to be forwarded to the New Zealand Union with a favourable recommendation. Fixture With Maori Team. A letter was reoelved. from Rev. Keepa, of Ngaruawahia, asking that if possible, a fixture toe arranged for Waikato at Hamilton with the New Zealand Maori touring team at present in Australia. The committee favourably, received the proposal, which is receiving, the support of the Maori populating of the Waikato, and resolved to ask the New Zealand Union' to arrange the proposed Hamilton fixture for a date soon after August 17. The New Zealand Union wrote advising the granting of the application for reinstatement of W. iD. EglCson and Hori 'George for reinstatement. The parent body advised the refusal of the - similar application submitted by Robert Stephenson. It was agreed to run an East v. West trial Waikato game at Hamilton on Wednesday, August 28, East to consist of representatives from the Putaruru, Matamata and Morrinsville subUnions and the. west being the eleot of Taupirl, Hamilton, 'Cambridge and Waipa sub-Unions.
