UNDERSEA EXPEDITION. SIR HUBERT WILKINS’ PLANS. USE iOF NEW SUBMARINE. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright, NEW YORK, July 24. The well-known polar explorer, Sir Hubert Wilkins, arrived today from Germany on his way to South America to join the National Geographic Society’s expedition to the Antarctic, whence he will return next March to begin preparations for his second undersea exploration of 'the Ncfrth Polar seas in 1937. Sir Hubert said he had asked for quotations from four builders for a new submarine, 100 ft. long and 20ft. beam, to cost less than 100,000 dollars.
‘“The equipment for the vessel will cos-t another 100,000 dollars,” added Sir Hubert, “though I still have a lot of equipment left from the I hope my new vessel will be ready for experimental cruises, which I shall probably make in Lake Erie, in the winter of 1936-37, and I hope to start for the north in 'the spring of 1937.”-
