CYCLE ROAD-RACING.

AMATEUR SPORTS CLUB. SATURDAY’S RACE REVIEWED. (By “Wheelman,”) The race to have been held over the Tauwhare-Eureka circuit ,cf 25 miles uqder the auspices of the HaiVuh ton Amateur. Sports Club, had to be abandoned on account of the road work being carried on and tile z..je& was held over the circuit .to Uefnbridge and back, a distance of 20 miles. Although the weather made riding conditions bad It did not prevent G. MoOnle from scoring his third successive olub win off 3m 30s mark. MoQnte had plenty In reserve and would have been hard to beat on the day. This rider has a 'good oyofing future and it is to be. .hoped that, success at the start does not get him down as it has many other young riders, Burr, who finished seoond to McOnie, rode a fine race for such a diminutive rider and was only laoking in the sprint, He could be treated to a better mark by his performances. Webber, who has been on the sick list for some weeks, finished well up -in third place and had a hard ride noarly all the way as he rode on his Crawford Hard to Beat. Of Crawford and Lentfer, on the scratch mark, the first named always looked to be going well within himself. Crawford Is a brilliant splinter and has good action and "Wheelman” hopes that he will not burn himself out in training rides as many other promising rides have done. Lentfer rode a gallant race, but has not the condition or sprinting powers to head off Crawford) Buckingham once again rode a good race and did not disgrace himself as he was next to the sevatoh men. and they did not catch him until Tamahere. This rider, who hails from Cambridge, is a keen enthusiast, as is Campbell, who again rode in from Matangi in the rain to participate in the race. He rode well, but could not sustain Ills lead long enough to win. Reidy was unlucky In having cycle trouble
