In.the Davis Gup contest in the inter-zone final, Allison (United States) defeated Henkel (Germany), 6 7—5, 11—9. Budge (United States) defeated Von -Cramrn (Germany), o—6, 9 —7, B—6, 6—3. The United States will now meet England in the challenge round. Allison’s Extra pressure. 'Henkel never threatened to overcome Allison, who always appeared to be able tgOdevelop extra pressure when It was essential. Nevertheless Henkel fought strenuously and brilliantly, and saved two match points at 7 6 against him in the third set. The match was fought out determinedly, many games going to several deuces. Von Cramm Feeling Strain.

Von ’Cramm, felling, the effeots of .previous matches, was unable to stand up against . the aggressiveness and brilliant backhand.

The third set was fiercely contested, leaving Von Gramm without reserve to .stand the increased pressure from Budge, who took six games in succession for the match.
