Several grants from the Government for use in the forming and metalling of roads ■in the Waipa district were arranged by Mr W. J. The main approved project is the forming and metalling of the Te Tahi Road, about two or three miles south of Pirongia, which will be put in band during the coming summer. It requires an expenditure of over £3OOO.
Mr Broadfoot.also made representations to the department in connection with roading improvement in various parts, of Waipa County, and these were arranged with the Minister, as follows: —Earl's Road (Parawera), Kakepuku Road (Pokurti), Maru Road (Pukealua), and Waimanu Road (Pukeatua), as arranged; Wharepapa Road (Aotearoa), £9O, pound for pound: Wyatt’s Road (Tuhikaramea), £6O, pound for pound; Aotearoa Road, £250 from the Public Works Department and £l5O from Waipa County; and Ellicott.’s Hoad (Parawera), Small Farms, £3781.
Substantial grants have been made to improve the Aotearoa and Waimanu roads. Details of tho amounts fortti-
coining in respect to the other roads mentioned arc not available, but it is probable that they are in accordance with the schedules submitted by the county engineer.
