LOST AEROPLANE. UNAVAILING SEARCH. FIVE MACHINES OUT. DANNEVIRKE, Monday. Five searching aeroplanes are working from Takapau in the hope of sighting the missing plane of Mr Hamish Armstrong, of Akitic. The Wakarara Hills were closely scanned this morning, but nothing was seen. Two flights were made. One machine wont over the Ruahincs, another towards the coast, and a third in another direction. These have not yet returned. The weather is cloudy, with occasional showers of misty rain. Settlers in the Rangitoto district east from Takapau, heard a plane yesterday morning; but it is not known whether it was Mr Armstrong’s machine. The main search has been conducted more on the other side of Takapau. ABSENCE OF CRIME. REMINDER to GRAND JURY, WELLINGTON, Monday, Satisfaction at the comparatively light calondor and the absence of serious crimes was expressed by the Chief Justice, Sir hi. /viyors, in opening the criminal sessions to-day. There are eight indictments against nine persons. His Honour reminded the Grand Jury that they could make presentiments to the Court on any'caso if they desired, saying this was a privilege which was not greatly availed of in recent years. Ho thought it should be recognised that suoh a valuable privilege existed.
CONSPIRACY CHARGE. TWO WOMEN REMANDED. TWO REMANDED. AUCKLAND, Monday. Peggy Jackson, aged 27, domestic, and Mina Elizabeth Mary Armstrong, aged 23, a tailored, were remanded to-day on Charges of conspiring with Matthew Edward Danbney and Reg Martin Semb to dofraud Arthur Roglan Gatiand of £76. The two men were remanded on Saturday. The women were allowed bail,
