LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. Miss R. Budd, of Messrs Balfour. Irvine ar.d Webster, supplies the following local observations on the weather: Barometer, Saturday .... 30.25 Monday ..... 30.15 Thermometer. Max. M!n. Friday 60 41 Sunday 59 40 Mean Temperature, 49.5 deg. The barometer reads 30.15 with a falling tendency. Indications are for cloudy and unsettled weather to-day; with lower temperatures; brisk north-easterly winds prevailing; scattered showers. The Rainfall. Rainfall for 48 hours ended 9 o’clock this, morning, .651 n. Rainfall for .previous 24 hours, .031 n. Total for July to date, 3.021 n. Average rainfall for July, 4.831 n. Rainfall for year to date, 29.58 in. yearly average, 46.321 n. SOUTH AUOKLAND AREA. (By Govt. Meteorologist.) The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist, covering the WaikatoThames Valley Is as follows: Forecast: Moderate but increasing east to north-east winds. Weather cloudy to overcast, with rain in places. •Mild. Seas rough. General Inference: An anticyclone still coveys the Dominion and Is now centred to the east. A series of depressions has continued to pass north of New Zealand.
