RAILWAY REVENUE
FIGURES FOR FOUR WEEKS SMALL GAIN REVEALED.

WELL IN GTON, Thursday
The general manager of railways, Mr G. 11. Mackley, announced to-day, on behalf of the 'Government Railways Board, the financial results of railway working for the third four-weekly period of Iho present financial year. For the four weeks ended June ?? there was an increase in gross revenue of £?.’).Til. compared with Hie same period of last year, and an increase in expenditure of I' ?•’>.. fi.Vj. making an increase in net revenue of CRB?.
The gross revenue for Hie period was ci7S.l t!. ami for the expenditure £ ifi7.fii2. making the net revenue of CiO.iOO. as compared with £ i 0,087 for the corresponding period of last year. The total revenue for the three periods this year was l! 1,7i.")0,550, compared with £ 1,1 f> I ,fi-li last. year. Tim figures for total expenditure were J! 1,281), I l(i and £1,2?8,!>;!."> respectively. leaving a net revenue of £?G-'i,-.iG-i for I!)fib and £?(>fi,loo for I'.ifii, an increase of i'lfioa for 1 lie current year. Last, year’s expenditure did not include Hie a per coni increase in salaries and wages, amounting lo approximately £fifi.ooo for the three periods of this year.
