SPORTS CLUB DINNER,
PRESENTATION TO MEMBER MR L. HODGSON HONOURED. As a token of the esteem in which he is held by his club mates, and to give them an opportunity of farewelling him prior to his departure for Sydney next week, a complimentary dinner was tendered to Mr L. Hodgson by members of the Hamilton Amateur Sports Club last evening. The function, which was held at the Waikato Hotel, was attended by a representative gathering of club members, and many tributes were paid to .Mr Hodgson’s ability as an official of the club and a racing cyclist. Mr Hodgson is well-known to the cycling sport in tlie Waikato, and has gained sprint laurels on a number of occasions in recent years. He has been actively associated with the Hamilton Amateur Sports Club for several seasons and has played a prominent part in raising the club to its present status as one of the strongest cycling clulis in the district.
Eulogistic reference to Mr Hodgson’s work for l lie club was made by the president, Mr 1.. Zillwood, who presided at lust evening’s function. In making the presentation of a wallet to llie guest of honour on behalf of his club males. Mr Zillwood wished him success in his new sphere.
In the course of a brief reply Mr Hodgson commended the sporting spirit which existed in tlie dub, and expressed the hope Dial it would eon» linue lo nourish.
