CHILD'S SEVERE INJURIES. STRUCK BY MOTOR-CAR. AUCKLAND, Thursday. ■ Severe head injuries, including possibly a fracture of the skull, were received by a six-year-old child, David Hector Wilson, of Paparimu, when he was struck by a car on the Great South Road at Dr.ury at about four o’clock yesterday afternoon. The car was driven by Air J. Welsh, a farmer, of Mount Roskill.

The little hoy ran across the road in front of Air Welsh’s car. He was conveyed to 'the Auckland Hospital and his condition last night was very serious.

WOMAN KILLED. KNOCKED DOWN BY TAXI. AUCKLAND, Thursday. Fatal injuries to the head were, received by Aliss Louisa Falgate, aged 62, when she was knocked down by a taxicab while crossing the roadway on Grafton Bridge at eight o’clock last night. Miss Falgate died shortly before midnight.

GISBORNE MAN’S DEATH.

COLLAPSE AT (MEETING,

GISBORNE, Wednesday

While attending a. meeting of . the Gisborne High School hoard .of governors this afternoon, Mr Robert Robertson collapsed and died. Mr Robertson, who was 71 years of age, was a well-known mercer and clothier, prior lo his retirement some years ago after being in business in Gisborne for 4 0 years. He was prominent in Freemasonry and in Forestry. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and 'two sons.

FORTUNATE ESCAPE.

RADIO ENGINEER BURNED

WELLINGTON, Wednesday

Through coming into contact with an 11,000-volt terminal when attempting to repair a transmission defect inside Hie 2YA radio building on Mount Victoria 10-dav, Mr 8. McDonald, broadcasting engineer, was burned on both arms and the left leg. Ho had a fortunate escape from serious injury. The burns are not critical.
