■Mr J. A. Lyons, Australian Prime Minister, sailed by the R.M.S. Niagara, after three hours’ stay in Vancouver, during which he was welcomed and farewelled by the Premier, the Vancouver Board of Trade, the Mayor, and representatives of the Canadian Manufacturers’ Association.
He told all frankly 'that Australia cannot continue the present status, under which Australia buys £3 worth for every £1 worth purchased by Canada.
“Buy more from us, so that we can buy more from you,” he said. ’The trade representatives admitted the logic of his case. The Daily province states: “The delegation left him drenched with the opinion that Canada should buy more from Australia. He is the most astute statesman who has ever put across sales argument for Australia.” The Vancouver Sun states: “Mr Lyons lias made the name of Australia ring where it only tinkled before.” Of the Premier of Canada, Air R. B. Bennett, Mr Lyons said he had received every courtesy.
