SYDNEY, July 17
The historic monoplane Southern Cross will make Its last flight to-morrow over Sydney prior to being handed over to the National Museum at Canberra.
Sir Charles Kings ford Smith will take his old flying companions with him, including Captain P. G. Taylor, Messrs .7. W. Stannage and <7l. A. Litchfield and (he late Mr C. T. P. Ulm’s 14 years old'son. The machine will be flown first to Richmond, where a brief ceremony will bo held.
The Minister of Defence, Mr R. A. Parkhill, is to take delivery of the monoplane, which will be temporarily housed at the Royal Australian Air Force aerodrome.! Sir 'Charles will leave in the afternoon by the, Aorangi, accompanied by Flying-Officer B. Shell, for New Zealand, where they will discuss with the Government the question of a trans-tasman air service. Later Sir Charles will leave for America.

'The Southern Cross’ last flight attracted considerable attention this morning, many gathering on the rooftops to witness “ The Old Bus ” and its escort of six Hawker Demons as they circled the city and proceeded via Mosman, where they dipped in salute over the Keith Anderson memorial, and Longville, where a further salute was made over the home of Sir Charles Kingsf ord Smith’s mother, to , Richmond, where the monoplane will be located until it can be accommodated «t Canberra.
