THE AUCKLAND MARKET.

VALUES WELL MAINTAINED.

AUCKLAND, Thursday,

There has been considerable activity on 'Change over the past 24 hours and a big list of sales has been put through, covering a wide range of securities. Values as a whole have been well maintained.

At this morning’s call Government stock were in keen demand, with very little on offer and these were mostly withdrawn at noon.

In the insurance section New Zealands were steadier, between G7s 3d and 67s 9d, while South British showed a definite firmness with quotations from 97s to 995. Amongst the miscellaneous securities, the Woohvorth group was particularly firm. After business at the record price of £l2, the New Zealand scrip was in request at £ll 17s, but sellers had withdrawn. The Sydney ordinary shares had a sale at 92s 3d, after which ihe market rested between 92s and 92s 9d. Mosglel Woollens had their first local sale for a considerable period, the £5 shares, paid to £4, realising £l2.
