GREYMOUTH, Thursday.
After being stranded on a gravel bank In the Grey River since Sunday, the Union Steamship Company's vessel, Omana, was refloated this morning at 7.30 o’otoqk.
The unloading of her cargo of timber commenced at one o’clock yesterday afternoon. Another unsuccessful attempt to get the Omana off was made at 7 p.m. and unloading was then resumed until six this morning. With the Walengo locked alongside the Omana, both vessels went full speed astern. Heaving wires from the wharf, and also the Khvitea pulling from the Omana’s how made no impression for an hour. At seven the Omana moved astern then almost immediately came off with the Kalingo still locked • alongside! The Ohiana then berthed at the Wharf.
Only minor damage to the super structure resulted from the stranding, a windlass being broken,' along with other slight damage. ' . ... The watersiders are now reloading the timber taken from the Omana and placed aboard the Kalingo. This was approximately 120,000 ‘feet or 300 tons dead weight. The services' of two divers brought from Wellington were not required, and the'y left on their return to-day.
