TE fIWAMUTU CLUB. The rortnlg-litiy social meeting- or the Te Awamutu Orphans’ Club oil Saturday evening was a very happy one. The chairman for Hie evening was Pro. S. G. Hidden, last year’s president, and after the formal opening the. president, iu\ ,T. 13. Hoberton invested him with the gold badge of a past president. A party of visitors from Hamilton was welcomed. Tlie chairman took as the subject for an interesting chat “ The Radio-Telephone,’ and lie described briefly the progress ol dcvelopcment an rlthe personnel of Hie main New Zealand station, concluding with an assurance that ihe public users “only pay lor what they say,” explaining that careful check is made to see that conversation i< not mechanically interrupted. The following musical items were presented: Songs, Messrs It. G. Andrew, 11. A. Swarbrick, .1. Olipliani, \V. Trembalh (Hamilton), J. T. llattershy (Hamilton), and J G McGreadv (Hamilton); -humour, Mr Martin (Hamilton 1 ); elocution, Mr it. Noohan: sclcciions, the choir and the club orchestra.
