SOCIAL EVENING HELD.

PLEASANT FUNCTION, A very pleasant sooial evening was held by the Music Students’ Association In the Centreway last evening, when 'there was a large attendance and an interesting time was -spent. -During the evening two amusing competitions were held and were won by Mri I. James, Miss- V. Rucroft, Mr ! R. W. Bennett and Mr Lloyd Peach. Songs by Miss Ruby Sutherland and Mr W. B. L. Williams, and a piano solo by Mr -Lloyd Peach were much appreciated. A novel country symphony caused much amusement. The accompanists were Mrs I. James and Mr S. James. The rooms were most attractively decorated with -greenery and Iceland poppies In shades of gold. Miss V. 'Rucroft received the -guests wearing a frock of black velvet. Among those .present were:—Mesdames C. -F. O’Connor, C. Wilson, 'L. 'Barton, S. 'Craig, -Church, Caldwell, I. James, A.
