WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

AT NAWTON—ROTOKAURI

The monthly meeting of the Nawton Rotokauri Women’s Institute was held .in Nawton Hall on Wednesday, Mrs Terry presiding over a good attendance.

The president welcomed new members and visitors. Mrs Owsley addressed the meeting on behalf of the Hospital Sunshine League and explained very clearly the work of the League. 'lt was decided to hold a social afternoon in aid of the League. “The care of the sick room and hints on home nursing” was the subject of a most Interesting talk given by Mrs Luxton. The roll call, “Uses of apples,” brought many good recipes and hints. Members contributed to the Crippled Children’s Fund. It was decided to hold a series of social afternoons to assist conference pool, the first to be held on Wednesday, June 12. The competition for- the “Best baby’s vest” was won by Mrs Tombes, and a “Collection of vegetables” was won by Mrs Vane. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Luxton and Mrs Owsley for their interesting addresses. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Ward, May, Tombes and 'Richards.
