JUST COMMON SENSE.

THE GORDON VACUUM BREAK MILKING MAOHINE. LEARN ALL ABOUT IT AT THE ' SHOW. There are many milking machines on thc market, every one, rio doubt, being a very fine machine; but the machine which milks cows in the same manner as a calf sucks its mother is the Gordon Vacuum Break Milking Machine, on display at the Waikato Winter 'Show. To excel Nature is impossible—to equal Nature Is a supreme achievement, and the proprietors of the Gordon Vacuum Break Milking Machine are to be congratulated in perfecting a machine which gives the same action on the cow as. a calf does when sucking. The calf, it must be remembered, “sucks and swallows,” and there is a “break" between each suck. The vacuum break in the Gordon Milking Machine reproduces exactly the “break" in the “suck of the calf.” Is it not, then, only natural that this wonderful machine is creating tremendous interest at the Show? and visiting’ farmers should make a point of carefully inspecting it. If they place their thumb in the vacuum break teat cup it will he a revelation to them, for they will feel the “suck of the calf” exactly. They will feel the “suck," then the break —hence the name, the Gordon Vacuum Break Milking Machine. Farmers inspecting this machine will, when placing their thumb in the vacuum break teat cup, also feel the milk surround their thumb (just the same- as the milk surrounds the cow’s teat when the calf is sucking) and they will discover that all the while their thumb remains normal and cool. (This is not so when the thumb is placed in the ordinary continuous vacuum teat cup, as in this class of cup the thumb becomes warmer and warmer the longer it remains there). With these few remarks It can be readily realised that the method of milking adopted by the use of this machine is as near to nature as it is humanly possible to get, and for this reason "it must appeal to all wise dairy farmers. Even hand milking cannot compare with vacuum break milking (which is equivalent. to calfsucking action), for the reason that the milk is simply squeezed out of the teat into the milk bucket. There is no | surrounding of the lent by milk at the end of each hand-pull, although there !is a “break in the pull,” and some milkers continually moisten their i fingers and thumbs with milk lo keep [ the teal moist. ' After a thorough inspection of this machine no wise dairy farmer could offer any reason why lie should refuse to adopt the Gordon Vacuum Break .Milker, it is llm last word in mechanical perfcCilon. Contamination and bacteria become bugbears of Iho past and leal, trouble is reduced to an absolute minimum. Five final words lo all farmers: SEE IT AT THE SHOW.
