SHEEP DOG TRIALS.
CENTRAL WAIKATO FIXTURE.

CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday. The Central Waikato Sheep Dog' Trial Club’s second annual fixture was opened this morning. To-day was novices’ day. The venue of this year's event Is Mr Gordon Vosper’s property, “ Dlngley Dell,” and again the club has been splendidly supported with a large number of entries. To-day will be taken up with the novice dog events. There are three classes: Head and hold In-ring (23 and post entries); all round event (lo and post entries; huntaway (to and post entries). Dogs In the novice events and entered by members associated with Waikato Clubs. The open events, which will commenco: on Thursday, are long head, pull and hold In ring; short head, drive and yard; and huntaway. There are 43 entries In the first class, 47 in the second, and 24 In the third. The entry is representative or Taranaki, Hawke’s Bay, North Auckland, and Oamaru. Among the entries Is Mr 11. Buckley’s Fay, last year’s winner of the long and short head events; also Mr E. Johnston's Nigger, winner- or the aggregate In the huntaway last year. A valuable sot or trophies is to be competed ror, Including the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Company’s 50-gulnea cup Tor provincial champion In short head, drive and yard class. The principal officials are: Judge, Mr II McDonald (Dannevlrke); ground marshall' Mr 11.-P. Hewitt; ground secretary, Mr E G. Broad. Cambridge, Thursday. The Central Waikato annual sheep dog trials were continued to-day with the commencement or the three open classes There was a representative attendance of owners rrom all parts or the North Island. The results or the novice events yesterday were: J Short head, pull and hold in ring 4 Palmer’s Baldy, i; a. Palmer’s Don, 2- it Nolan’s Roe, 3. There were 18 competitors. v Mr A.
