WEATHER PREDICTION.
ÜBE OF BTATIO. GERMAN EXPERT’S RESEARCH. BAD CONDITIONS IN DOMINION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday . The possibility of utilising static for worldwide weather forecasting has been illustrated by. experiments at the Auckland University College during the past year by Doctor K. Kreielsheimer, who left Germany after the introduction of the Hitler regime. He will leave on Friday by the Monowai to take up a lucrative appointment as research physicist for Neon Signs (Australia), Limited, Sydney. Since his arrival in Auckland, Dr. Kreielsheimer has constructed sending and receiving sets to study radio wave tracks above the earth, in order to 11 nd the cause of fading. A machine registers the signals on a photographic paper.
Discussing radio development, Dr. ilvreielshclmer said statics would have to be eliminated, especially in New Zealand where they were very had. He predicted there would he fewer hut more powerful transmitting stations, as illustrated by Berlin and Moscow where there were 500 kilowat stations. He praised 1 Y.A.’s modern technical equipment. The research work will he carried on by Doctor Brown, lecturer in physics at the college.
