WAIKATO HUNT
TWO KILLS REGISTERED. CAMBRIDGE, Monday. The Waikato Hunt met at Forrest’s Corner, on the Cambrklge-Hamllton Road, on Friday, when the hounds threw off soon after noon. There was a number of onlookers in cars and about 30 followers. Hares were plentiful when hounds threw off in the field adjoining Mr Inncs Taylor’s house. They all made to the kahikatea plantation behind the homestead. The hounds, picking up a slrong scent, carried the field over the jumps along the river terraces, back along the boundary between tlie properties of Mr Taylor and Mr Hutchison to the road. Puss crossed Into Mr M. Wells’ property, but by the timo the field had reached the road she had doubled back Into the field opposite Mr A. It. Forrest’s gate, then through the homesteads of Messrs Olding, Elphick, Jas. Fisher, on to No. 2 Road, where she met her rate. The Master then moved to Sir M. Wells’ country, where a strong bare was soon on foot, carrying the field at a -hot pace back to Mr Gibb Watt’s Corner; here she doubled back along the road to the kahikatea bush behind Mr A. Coubrough’s stables; once again she ran the same circuit and was finally killed on the road near Mb Watt’s house. Hounds were called off at 3.30 p.m. and at the request of Mr and Mrs H. Griffith the followers dismounted at Forrest’s Corner, where a picnic afternoon tea was partaken of on the side road.
There will be no meets during the week beginning Monday, June 3rd.
