MR W. GROUNDS’ INTENTIONS
OPPOSITION TO MR COATES

Authentic advice has been received that Mr William Grounds has decided to contest the Kaipara seat as an Independent, candidate at the general election.
Mr W. Grounds, who was a member' of the Dairy Produce Control Board from its-formation until its reorganisation 'this year, has been prominent In dairying affairs in North Auckland; He was the first chairman of the Hokianga Dairy Company and served extensively on local bodies in the district. Mr Grounds was at one time chairman of the Dairy Board prior to the election of Mr W. A. lorns to that position. The Kaipara seat has been held by the R't. Hon. J. G. Coates continuously since 1911. Prior to that the seat had been held in the Liberal interest from 1905 by Mr John Stallworthy, father of Mr A, J. Stallworthy, M.P. for Eden.
