A Debtor’s Audacity.—The duly of a person .summoned to appear before a court to act on that summons, especially in the case of a judgment summons, was stressed in the Blenheim Magistrate’s Court, a few days ago by Mr* T. K. Maunsoll, S.M. "This is rather an audacious letter to 'write to the court, seeing that lie is called upon to show cause why lie should not be sent to prison,” Mr Maunsell remarked when tie read a letter in which a judgment debtor excused himself from personal attendance by saying that he was working out of lown. The debtor slated that since lll** dale of the judgment he had not had more money Ilian was required for file maintenance of his family. “lie should lie here In give his statement on oa lit,'' I lie magislrale added. “No man should I real the court and a judgment summons as lightly as that.”
