THE AUCKLAND MARKET. FIRMNESS 'OF BANK SCRIP. (Bv Telegraph. —Special to Times.) y AUCKLAND, Thursday. A feature of Stock Exchange dealings lately has been the better inquiry for bank shares, and at this morning's call Reserves touched a new high level with business at £6 13s 3d. Sellers then raised their reserves to £6 15s od. Commercials were steady between 15s 9d and 15s lid, and New Zealand’s from 50s 6d to 51s.
The Insurance section was very firm. South British, now ex dividend, had buyers at 98s, with holders asking £5, and New Zealands were quoted between 70s 6d and 71s 6d. There were more offering in Government stocks, the 1940 4 per cents being available at £105; the 1946 Issue at £lO7 10s and the 1955’s at £ll2.
Waihls were easier with sellers at 43s 9d, and no buyers.
