AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL. SOUTHERN GROUP MEETING. MORRINSVILLEs Wednesday. The principal business at the third annual conference of the Southern Group of Agricultural and Pastoral Associations, held at Morrinsviile to-day, was the fixing of tentative dates for next season’s shows in South Auckland so as to avoid a clashing of dates with other shows and race meetings. Mr J. S. Fisher, of the Waikato Central Association, Cambridge, occupied the chair, and delegates were present from the Morrinsviile, Matamata, Thames Valley, Waikato, Waikato Central, Putaruru, Tokoroa Agricultural and Pastoral Associations, and an apology was offered on behalf of the Te Awamutu Association. Mr W. F. O’Donnell, secretary of the Auckland Metropolitan Association, was present. The following show dates for the South Auckland circuit of Agricultural and Pastoral shows for the 1035-30 season was tentatively agreed on subject to confirmation at the meeting of the Auckland Provincial Council ot Agricultural and Pastoral Associations, to be be held on May y-i:—Waikato Association (at Ciaudelands), November 8 and 0; Thames Valley (at To Arolia), November 19 and 20; Franklin (at Pukekohej, February 15; Te Awamutu, February 10; Auckland, February 28 and 20; Katlkatl, February 20; Waikato Central (at Cambridge), March -i and 5; Matamata, March 7; Morrinsviile, March 11; Tokoroa, March 18; Otorofianga, March 13 or 25; Putaruru, March 25.

After listening to an address by Mr O'Donnell on tlic proposed extension of the activities of the Royal Show Society the meeting decided that delegates to tho North Island conference of Agricultural and Pastoral Associations be recommended to merge with the Royal Society. Mr J. S. Flslier was re-elected a vicepresident and Mr C. S. Leggett, of Morrinsvllle, a representative of the Southern Group on the Auckland Provincial Council of Agricultural and Pastoral Associations.

After discussion a request from the Women’s Division of tlio Farmers’ Union that sideshows described as “revolting” be excluded from showgrounds, the meeting expressed Us support and asked for copies of the new contracts used by tho Auckland Society for giving greater control over showmen admitted to tho Auckland shows.

Tho question or the embargo on the importation of stocK was discussed following an address by Mr A. Tophairi, representing the Farmers’ Union, who opposed the lining of the embargo. A motion opposing the. lifting of the embargo found few supporters, and an amendment was carried that the meeting approve of tho importation of stock, from Britain provided the period of quarentlne was doubled. ,
