Uproar at a Meeting. — Dog fights arc not unassooiatod with elections, hut Mr IS. A. M. Leaver, Mayor of New Brighton, had an unusual experience in his opening campaign address (savs Hie Christchurch Times). Mr Leaver had .just finished speaking when (hero was a sudden uproar in tlm middle of the hall. A deep-throaled snarl was joined with the snapping hack of a terrier, and then in a moment a dog light was in progress. The owner of one of Ihe dogs got to work with a large slick, lull the meeting otherwise look an eneouragiing interest. A few minutes elapsed before Ihe noise had eased suHlcienlly for Ihe business lu be resumed.
