CONDITIONS IN GREECE.
FRIENDSHIP OF BRITAIN.
HOPE FOR DOMESTIC PEACE.
United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright,
LONDON, April 30
The Foreign Secretary, Sir John Simon, in the House of Commons, informed the Leader of the Opposition, Mr George Lansbury, that the Government, through the British Minister at Athens, had expressed its satisfaction that order had been restored and its hope that domestic peace would prevail.
It was not for the British Government to judge the merits of individual cases, said Sir John, hut the traditional friendship between Britain and Greece entitled it to express the hope that the Greek Government would see its way to exercise clemency and to limit capital punishment as far as possible. (Cheers.)
