In the Italian lennis championships Canepele, a young-Italian, defeated Ilopman - (Australia), 6 —4, 4—o, 6—3, 3 —6, 6—3; Brugnon beat Goldschmidt, 6'—2. In the men’s doubles, Hopman and Palada defeated Sabbadini and Demiuerbi, 6 —3, 6—4, o—6, 6 —3. Crawford, McGrath, Turnbull and Qulst were each successful in the mixed doubles. Australian Players. The Australian Davis Cup players are to play at Monte Carlo on April 26 and 30. From there they will go diroct to Eastbourne for the cup tie against New Zealand. TOURNAMENT IN ENGLAND. In the semi-final of the singles at the' Melbury lawn tennis tournament Austin (England) defeated Malfroy (New Zealand, 6—l, 6—o. In the final Austin defeated Rogers, 6—l, G —2. ’ln the women’s singles Miss Round defeated Miss Stammers, B—G,8 —G, 6— o.
