Forbes and Hon. J. G. Coates (New Zealand).
FURTHER NEGOTIATIONS. OBSTACLE TO SETTLEMENT. THE CONFLICTING POLICIES. United Press Assn.—E!qc. Tek Copyright, (Received April 17, 11 a.m.) LONDON, April 16. It is now certain that the meat discussions will proceed throughout the jubilee celebrations, wyien General Ilertzog, Mr J. G. Coates, and Mr Southern (of the Rhodesian House of Representatives) will participate. IL was proposed at yesterday’s discussions to adjourn pending the arrival of* the other Dominion delegates, but Hie Australians felt that a continuation of tho discussions would allow the clearing of the air, consequently a further meeting will he held to-morrow. , The indications still suggest that there is little possibility of 'far-reach-ing agreements either in connection with the period or the termination of llie Argentine agreement, or for longterm agreements afterwards. The difficulties are due to the conflicting policies.- They may eventually be overcome, but the real obstacle is Britain’s inability to consume the Commonwealth's potential output, particularly mutton and lamb.
