SLACKENING IN DEMAND. ■OX iBEEiF DOWN is. (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. A drop in the rates for ox beef is reported by Messrs iDalgety and Company, -Limited, referring to the weekly stock sale at Westfield to-day. The company yarded 15'5 head of beef, comprising 32 steers and 123 cowes and heifers against 195 head last week. The -quality of the ox beef was fully up to standard but the demand was not so keen as last week and the company’s quotations were easier by Is per 1001 b. There was a full average yarding of cow and heifer beef which sold at good 'Competition at about last week’s levels. Extra choice ox made to 23s per 1001 b; choice and prime,'2os to 2'2s; just killable, 16s to 19s; prime young cow and heifer beef, 19s lo 235; just killable, l'2s to 18s.

Heavy prime steers ranged in price from £-8 10s to £8 15s; lighter prime, £7 5s lo £8 7s Gd; light prime, £6 to £7 2s Gd; small and unfinished, £4 2s Gd to £'s 16s; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £6 to £G 10s; heavy prime cows and heifers, £'s to £5 17s Gd; lighter prime, £3 10s to £4 17s Gd; other killable cows, £1 10s to £3 7s Gd.
