GAY GARDENS.
IN THE AUTUMN SUNSHINE. The dahlias are nodding where over the way The zinnias smile as they happily sway In the fresh Autumn breeze. Up on the wall the warm leaves are resting Watching the birds the fleecy clouds breasting And the gay golden trees. v BEAUTYSEEKERS. Doreen Weal has planted a bed of Michaelmas Daisies which are now flowering and are the gayest spot in the garden. 3<C * * * * * Phyllis Long has seen lots of gaily coloured Cosmos which are so f pretty. * * * ■ * •> • Doreen Western, while walking in the garden the other day noticed some green heads of some early bulbs and anemones. * * * 9 * * Launa Lumsden has bright red verbenas in her garden and has seen cream roses in the centre of a pretty garden and some single ibrown ohrysanthemums in a bright spot. ****** Audrey Oliver noticed the other day in the garden all the ohrysanthemums were In bud so she pulled off most of the big buds to have success with them.
WHAT MEMBERS SAY.
Ruth Stevenson says: The asters are nearly finished. We have still some tomatoes on our bushes. Hasn’t It been very cold In tbe mornings. Father made a garden for me to-day.
Joan McMillan says: We have planted some sweetpeas; they are Just coming up. We have had quite a few water melons. Have you bad any, Peter? Have you bad any slight frosts there at Hamilton?
Patrloia Dando says: The gardens are Just a mass of all coloured cosmos, but the asters are nearly all withered. Mother planted some borecole plants In the vegetable garden yesterday and some other plants also.
Beverley Vernall says:— Our garden 18 looking nice again. Our Michaelmas daisy is out In bud and It will make a nice show in the garden when it Is out. My honeysuckle is coming out: too.
Roaalene Strawbrldge says:—The weather is getting colder now, and although the leaves are falling and the • summer flowers are dying, the autumn flowers are coming and they are IbVely too.
Lewis McMillan says:—Have you got the sweet pea seeds I promised you? I sent them three weeks ago. I planted some of my sweet pea seeds the other day and I am getting the ground ready for another lot. The ralrr we had a while ago did a lot of good. The fields are nice and green again and the flower gardens are gay again.'
