FAST SWIMMING.
HAMILTON HIGH SCHOOL. BOYS’ ANNUAL SPORTS. CHAMPIONSHIP RECORD BEATEN. Favoured with ideal weather, the annual swimming sports of the Hamilton High School boys, held yesterday in the school baths, were an outstanding success. There was a large attendance of parents and old pupils of the school, and, seated along the terraced slopes surrounding the baths, they had a clear view of the proceedings.
The standard of Ihe swimming was particularly high, while a feature was the large number of competitors in 'each event. T-ho sports were exceptionally well organised, the good handicapping producing close and exciting finishes, while I here was no delay between the events.
'flic school’s 'most outstanding swimmer, A. Sutherland, unfortunately, had to retire from the senior championship owing lo illness. He .swain in two events, winning both, breaking the school record before his withdrawal. Considering the conditions under -which he,swam, Sutherland’s time of 30 1-5 -sec. for the 60 2-3 yds. championship, was a commendable effort.
The senior cup was won by D. Bullock with 14 points from J. Reynolds 12 points, while the junior championship was won by J. Hall with 15 points from T. Bullock, 9 points. Following are the results:—
