FREE AMBULANCE.
COMPLAINT FROM WELLINGTON. PATIENT’S MOTHER EXPLAINS. “A MOST DISTRESSING THING.” (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) 'DUNEDIN, Friday. A statement was made this morning by the mother of Hie girl patient c-on-'C'erneid in a Welliirgbon free ambulance complaint -that after transport in their stretcher from Wellington to Dunedin it was -sent back freight collect. I.t appears that the patient was brought to the Dunedin Hospital on a stretcher, which, with blankets, etc., was left at -the hospital, the authorities -there returning .it -to Wellington as stated.
The -girl’s mother said the whole thing was a -misunderstanding. When she was told that the free ambulance w-a-s providing facilities it never struck her that a charge was involveidi, and with other worries she 'did not think •to inquire regarding Uie possible cost of stretcher, blankets, and pillow. There was no >intention to avoid payment. It was a tno-st distressing -thing to -happen.
