The Governor-General, Lord Bledlsloe, arid Lady Bledisloe arrived in Auckland this morning from National Pai’k. Their Excellencies expect to remain in Auckland until the middle of next month. ■
Mr H. J. Williams, of Sydney, is at the Hamilton Hotel.
Sir Fabian Ware, who has been visiting New Zealand, sailed for London yesterday by the Rangitane from Wellington.
Mr Malcolm MacDonald, Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Dominion Affairs, left Wellington by the Rangitane yesterday on his return to London.
Mr. W. Rusaell-Wood passed through Hamilton last night on his way from Dunedin to Auckland for the Christmas vacation.
Mr G_. 0. Stace, of Te Aroha, who has been in England for eight months training the Rhodesian ladies’ team and other teams for the Olympic Games, returned this week.
The Gold medal awarded annually by the New Zealand Institute of Architects for the best designed building of the year has been, won for 1934 by Messrs G. E. Tolo and H. L.' Massey, of Auckland. The winning design is that of St. Michael’s Church, Remuera.

Dr. Gordon Cook, late of Auckland and Te Aroha; has been appointed to the staff of the Otago University Medical School, in the capacity of assistant to. the Sub-Dean of the Medical Faculty, Professor C. E. Laereus, Professor of Bacteriology and Professor of Public .Health. '
Sir John Simon, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs is to leave London to-day for the South of France, where lie will spend the Christmas holidays. Sir John hopes to have an opportunity of seeing MM. Flandin and Laval in Paris.
Mr W. Dunningham,’ who is retiring at the end of the year from his position as manager of Bellamy’s and officer in charge of Parliament Buildings, was farewelled at Wellington by the staffs of the Legislative Departments. On belmll’ ol" the combined staffs Mr Hall presented 'Mr Dunningham with a wireless set.
